How Moms Stay Calm?
I hear the sentiment, "I can't imagine having small children during a Pandemic." Well, you may think that's comforting. But it's not. I can tell you I'm NOT WELL!!!
Emmy, my 5 1/2-year-old has always been good at adapting to transitions. She is fine.
Rainey, who will turn 4 in 9 days, is NOT FINE! She is in NYCDOE Public School 3K. And she won't eat or drink at school, she doesn't play with her classmates, her teachers think she has a speech delay b/c they can't understand her mumbling. But at home she WON'T SHUT UP! (I am diagnosing her as not having a speech delay, like Emmy did.)
So I've been obsessively listening to Dr. Mom psychology podcasts and googled on youtube, "how Moms stay calm." Because really, the advice nowadays (not sure if this was true during my mom's time) is JUST STAY CALM. Which only ignites my Mommy rage more. Anyway! Found this video by Mayim Bialik Malik and had a good laugh. Thank you Blossom!
And now I'm calm, even though the kids are in school and I can't apply this 5 second endorphin high on them. I'll be in my Mommy time out corner--breathing!
